I saw you sitting passive in your situation

blaming the bystanders and the bed that you slept in

your sense of security started to spoil

fear and new guilt were brought to a boil

we drove south, but states couldn't change it

then doubt set in to become the new climate

it wasn't the city, the stars or the season

but you wanted so badly to not be the reason

you know you're the ladder no matter the rungs

so straighten your spine and sharpen your tongue

bite back, i beg you, because your shell is so thin

and i won't hesitate to sink my teeth in
